Everywhere you look, smiling faces

Carl and I are constantly in awe of how incredibly nice people are here. Here are a few of the experiences we've had recently:
  • in the mornings when River and I jog, EVERY person we pass smiles at us and says good morning
  • before we had our cars (which we picked up yesterday, by the way) several different people pulled over to give us a ride when they saw that we were carrying groceries
  • the woman at the Driver's License place absolutely could not have been more polite and helpful if you paid her $1,000, and the same was for the woman at the vehicle registration place, the bank, and the list goes on
  • when we rode the bus over to hilo to pick up our cars, we called the owner of Town and Country storage to get directions to his warehouse so we could pick up our container. when he found out we were on foot he said, "stop where you are. i'll leave right now and come pick you up."
  • our roommate's car broke while we were driving it, and HE apologized to US for that happening while we had it. he said it must have been terrible for us and never once blamed us for anything or had any hard feelings.

So, in case you couldn't tell, we're super happy here. Life could not be any better.

This is the market we walk to and get our produce.

Not sure what this thing is, but I'm sure its spectacular. Maybe. In case you can't tell from the image, its about the same size as River.

Sounds great! In case Jason didn't tell you, we bought tickets!!! Shawn, Daphne, Bryan, Jason, and I will be arriving July 28th. We can't wait!
I think the giant thing in your picture is a jackfruit. We had them in India (but MUCH smaller). They smell TERRIBLE when they're ripe, but some people think they taste good. :)

That's the way it should be, smiling faces everywhere and a great farmer's market too!
